Great Lakes Sailors Plead Not Guilty to Torching Cab
Tim Vander Tuuk Reporting
(Waukegan, IL)Two Great Lakes sailors say they had no part in stealing and torching a taxi earlier this year. Terry Gappa and Aaron Couch each have pleaded not guilty to their list of charges. The pair of sailors had hailed the cab in May near Union Station in Chicago, then allegedly threatened to kill the cabbie if he didn’t let them drive. The cabbie eventually escaped near Gurnee and called police…the flaming wreckage of his cab was later found in Old Mill Creek, with the two suspects nearby. Both men face up to 7 years in prison if convicted at trial, which is scheduled for August.
