Meet News Director, Tim Vander Tuuk

Where shall I begin? I like to talk. That’s why I do this radio thing. That about covers it really.

In reality, I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2002. During my schooling I got a chance to intern for Jim Moran and Chip Egan early in the mornings here at WKRS. From there they hired me to take over for the afternoon news person, who was leaving. Shortly thereafter, they moved me to the morning, slapped me with the News Director title, and the rest is radio history.

I am married to my wonderful wife Sara, and have been since September of 2004. We have one child, Jacob, who was born in June of 2006.

I am a hockey nut, one of the few left on this fine planet. My favorite team is the Colorado Avalanche, though I enjoy the Chicago Blackhawks and Wolves. My other passion is baseball, with the Chicago Cubs at the tops of the heap.

Believe it or not, I am also a big science guy. I love anything, especially, that has to do with outer space. There are days where I will spend hours watching things on the History, Discovery or Science Channel.

If you ever need to reach me you can e-mail at: ttuuk@nextmediachicago.com

My work line is: (847)-336-7900 ext. 231

News “tips” can be directed to the Comcast Digital Voice Hotline: (847)-662-4473

I also write a blog, which is mainly the "off-air" side of me. Nothing too controversial. That can be found by clicking here.

I also tend to enjoy lunar photography
. I have even made a montage, or "moontage" of my shots..including some from the February eclipse (At the end):
